We have arrived safely in the Dominican Republic! Thank you for prayers. We felt them as we barely made our first flight and as we struggled to get our medication through customs.
We left JC early and it has been a long day. When we arrived in the DR, there were some new “rules” at customs and they were not going to let us through with our medications. We tried all the things we knew and things that had worked before but no luck. I went on out the gate and located our partner missionaries and brought them inside to join the discussion. After much discussion, phone calls to other doctors, inspections with airport health screeners, we finally were allowed to bring them into the country just this once!
That is all we needed. We arrived with every one of our 34 checked suitcases and 17 or 20 carry-ons! What a blessing.
Phil and Donna Williams took us to our hotel and we checked in briefly. It has a magnificent view of the ocean. We stay in the tourist area and then go to work in reality. It is not safe for us to stay out where we work and we are mindful of the paradox.
We went on an hour walk around the Sosua city. At 7 pm we had an orientation meeting where we were mostly successful at staying awake. And finally about 8 pm we were able to eat some delicious supper.
And … free WIFI! God bless the Dominican. I should be able to provide you with daily updates and photos.
Tomorrow we will spend the morning sorting all of our medication we brought. We will then prepare for the first anniversary celebration of the Danica Center followed by church from 6 – 8:30 pm. Then supper. :) See a trend?
Blessings as you enter a day of worship in Jefferson City.

Blessings on your trip and God knows what needs to go through customs and what doesn’t. Been there…done that, and so have many of you. We look forward to the stories of the changed lives of people and the ministry in Christ’s name.
Thanks for the update! We are praying for all of you. Happy Father’s Day, Daddy. Someone give that man a hug for us.

Melissa, thanks for the Father’s Day greeting. Tell the team, Take Heart! There are heat warnings here through Wednesday. It is between 95-100 with high humidity….. Might as well be in DR than here!
