Happy Father's Day from the DR - Stephanie and Dale Feeler

I don’t really know how to say it in Spanish but you get the point.  It is a beautiful and hot day here in the Dominican Republic.  We started the day around 8:15 am as we took our vehicles up to the Danica Clinic, the medical clinic in Nazareth that Phil and Donna built a year ago.  It is only about 15 – 20 minutes to the clinic and the roads are too bad.  (I’m comparing them to Kenyan roads so keep that in mind.)

We worked this morning at the clinic sorting the 37 suitcases we brought packed with medicine, toys, school supplies, toiletries, etc.  So much of this is what you as a church donated to our trip.  We are so blessed to be able to help so many because of your generosity.  Some of us sorted the toiletries and gift bags that we will be taking to the hospitals, the school and to each of the clinics.  Many others sorting and counted medication out.  And three worked

We came back to the hotel for lunch.  It is a buffet here and so there seems to be a little of everything. Last night there was a full pig – eyelashes and all.  Poor little piggy.  Today we had choices of squid, goat, oysters, etc.  You just never know.  But there is always something to eat.

We returned to the clinic at 1:30 pm to clean up and prepare for the one-year anniversary Fiesta in honor of the Danica Center.  In fact, we were the first medical team to come work at the clinic a year ago so it was a tremendous honor to be there for this celebration. About 50 or 60 people came – mostly

missionaries and community leaders who help with the center or other ministries in the Dominican.  We had thank you’s, and cake!  We also made lots of balloon animals for the children that came to see what was going on.

We have a few moments before we head to church at El Bueno Samaritan.  It  begins at 6 pm and ends around 8 pm or so.  Lots of music and celebrating!  Should be a joyous night of worship.

Tomorrow is our first medical clinic of the week at the Danica Center.  We will also be hosting a Fiesta tomorrow afternoon for any local children that come.  We have no idea how many.  We are told anywhere from 20 – 100. :)  In the morning, some of us will be going on home visits to meet the neighborhood and to assess needs.

Prayer Request:
1.  Team health.  We have some individuals who are struggling with the heat.  Please pray for everyone to stay healthy throughout the trip.

2. Medical Clinics.  Pray that we will be able to diagnose and treat people that we see and that God will provide amble medication to help them.

3. Pray for our time with the children tomorrow afternoon.  Pray for patience and energy in the afternoon heat as we work with children who do not have patience and have excess energy! We need an abundance of both as we share about God’s love for each of them.

4. Pray for Lory Feeler, trip leader, as she carries the constant burden of leading a team.
