Dominican Republic Trip – Day 5

Dale loves getting his hands dirty in cement.

Another beautiful day here and much was accomplished!   The building is coming along quicker than anyone expected and it is completely due to the team effort of community members, church members and our team.  What a great picture of the way the church should be in our call to be the bride of Christ!  The pastor of the church is overwhelmed by the community involvement in this project.  It has been such an encouragement to him to see this happen this week.  He couldn’t really believe that it was actually going to start this week.  He said to the church on Sunday night that when we arrived for worship and we brought our supplies to leave there for the next day, he started to think it might actually happen.  Well look at the building now!  It is an amazing site to behold.  A beautiful beacon on a hill.

The clinic is taking shape.

The guys labored all day in the sun putting up the walls.  The footing was poured overnight and today was mixing concrete and laying block after block.  Tomorrow will be more of the same for them.

The three ladies spent the day at the Danica Clinic in Nazaret.  Today is their full day of clinic and it was an incredibly busy place.  They do a great service to the community.  Lory worked all day in the little pharmacy sorting and organizing medications.  Some were expired and needed to be disposed.  Deborah worked all day on the computer creating a formulary of what is in stock, what we brought, and also 14 pages of drugs that a team from Canada is bringing next week. I worked on patient files again today and organizing medication labels.  Although much of the work isn’t visible, especially as visible as building a building – much work was done.

Donna and Lory with some of the clinic staff.

We have a quiet evening here at the hotel.  We are slower and slower each morning which you should attribute to hard work not age. (Please!)

Enjoy the photos from today!  We read through your comments tonight.  IT is such a wonderful blessing to know you are reading the updates and leaving comments.  We can’t tell you how much it means to us and how much shorter it makes the miles feel to us.

Much Love from the Dominican Republic Team.
